Heyday! Holiday Decor 2024
I was thrilled to help my dear friend Peyton decorate her toy store, Heyday, for the holiday season this year! (While I didn’t study merchandising, my time at Declaration Boutique, a lifetime of crafting/jewelry design, and my recent floral/event design studies made for the perfect mixture of experience for this project.)
Peyton and I started by having an initial design meeting. (Notes from that meeting are photographed below!) She brought a few photos for design inspiration, and from those photos I pulled together a Pinterest board, which you can see here. (Some of my favorite inspo photos from the board are below.) After we nailed down the ideas we liked, we walked through the store to decide which projects made the most sense to complete and where to put them.
The projects we decided on were:
Snowflakes strung throughout the store.
Two different wrapped present installations.
One storefront window display featuring Santa, some boys in the snow with wrapped presents and toys.
One storefront window display featuring girls with toys, a giant bow/tinsel adorned tree with snow and wrapped presents.
Ornament garland on the inside of each window display.
Twinkle greenery garland on the outside of the entire shop.
Nutcrackers by the front doors!
The installation process took a while, but thankfully, Peyton’s husband, and my boyfriend helped us. (Thank you, Dave and Waylon!)
After one long night in the store as a group and several early mornings and late nights at the shop, we implemented all the designs and tweaked things as we went. The top slideshow shows the entire store as it looks today. It all turned out so gorgeous, and I had so much fun working on it!
Also, Peyton won the San Marco Merchant Association’s Holiday Decorating Contest, which was the cherry on top of the tree! (Is that how that phrase goes?)
Thank you to my sweet friend Peyton for the opportunity. If you still have holiday shopping to do, please head to Heyday in San Marco! You can find Heyday! online, on Facbeook and on Instagram. Thanks for reading!
